Social Responsibility

The Moorings is the company you see today due, in large part, to the support of those who call the British Virgin Islands home. For more than 45 years, these communities have welcomed countless travelers who charter with us and given them memories to cherish for generations to come. Kindness like this can never be matched, but we can do our part to help those in need.

That’s why we’ve partnered with the following charities that work tirelessly to enrich the lives of our neighbors in the BVI and beyond:

Pack for a Purpose

Pack for a Purpose LogoPack for a PurposeWe are proud members of Pack for a Purpose, an initiative that allows travellers like you to make a lasting impact in the community of your travel destination. If you save some extra space in your suitcase and bring supplies for a local charity in need, you'll make a priceless impact in the lives of our local children and families. Please visit this page to see what supplies are needed for our project.

Our flagship marina in Tortola has partnered with the Family Support Network (FSN) to aide its efforts in the British Virgin Islands and beyond. FSN works to assist individuals, couples and families affected domestic violence or any form of abuse in intimate partner relationships. By packing any of these needed supplies, and simply dropping them off at The Moorings reception area, you can support a worthwhile organization and continue your vacation with the knowledge that you have helped others in need.

Sailors of the Sea

Sailors of the Sea Logo The Moorings is a proud supporter of Sailors for the Sea, a leading conservation organisation that “engages, educates, inspires and activates the sailing and boating community toward healing the ocean."

Sailors of the Sea - Interline RegattaThe Moorings Interline Regatta, held every October in the British Virgin Islands, pledged its commitment to clean waters and shores by participating in Sailors for the Sea’s Clean Regattas program. By implementing new measures like a Recycling Program and providing oil absorbent marine pads for each boat, The Moorings heightened environmental awareness while preserving the ecosystem more efficiently than ever before. We are proud to have earned both Silver and Gold-Level Clean Regatta Certification from Sailors for the Sea.

In 2014, we took things a step further by not only adhering to Clean Regatta Best Practices, but also raising funds for Sailors for the Sea in the process. Our partners from Lagunitas Brewing Company were on hand to sell their award-winning microbrews and donate the proceeds to this fantastic organisation.

We thank you for your support, and look forward to continued growth with our sustainability programs.

One Cup at a Time

Lead by Caribbean locals and sailing musicians Stell and Snuggs, One Cup at a Time is a model grass-roots campaign that addresses a major global issue — plastic waste. Upon observing the massive amount of single-use plastic cups in the British Virgin Islands alone, Stell and Snuggs began brainstorming and came up with a solution: produce and distribute stylish metal cups to BVI visitors that can be used at bars and restaurants, thus minimising the total number of disposable cups tossed in the trash each day.

The Moorings will help make this happen by handing out one of those reusable cups to every guest that comes on board in the BVI. Through social awareness, financial support, and conscientious holidaymakers, we will be able to dramatically reduce plastic waste and keep our oceans clean for generations to come. But we need your help! Visit this page to learn more and help fuel the funding for this one-of-a-kind campaign.
